Sierra Dickey is a writer, educator, and organizer

Sierra is a reporter, book reviewer, and occasional essayist. Her writings on abolition, immigration, education, gender, labor, and nature have been featured in publications like Shadowproof, Modern Farmer, Documented, Talk Poverty, and Library Journal. She currently covers police and prisons for The Shoestring.

A TESOL-certified English teacher with a Master’s in Education from Antioch University, Sierra has spent years working with immigrant learners in Vermont, Western Massachusetts, and Maine. From 2020 - 2023 she worked as an English & Journalism teacher at Northfield Mount Hermon School, where she also served as the first cross-campus Media Education Coordinator.
